Wagners Toowoomba & UQ Gatton - Tour 1

Wagners Toowoomba

The tour will give attendees the opportunity for a full ‘behind the scenes’ walkthrough of Wagners CFT, where you will get to explore Wagners new Crossarm production facility located in the Wellcamp Industrial Estate outside of Toowoomba.  A fully guided tour will be conducted covering off on every stage of their state-of-the-art composite crossarm production line. Learn about the fabrication process, and the myriad of techniques utilised to test the product and ensure consistent production output, along with how Wagners have embraced automation and managed the implementation of robotics into the process.  In addition to the manufacturing of composite crossarms attendees will witness full scale crossarm structural testing (to failure), and learn about the various failure modes that exist.  This tour also provides the rare opportunity to witness high voltage testing for electrical tracking in contaminated environments, normally used for testing high voltage insulating materials.  Hearing and eye protection will be provided on site.

Attendees are required to disclose their employer and status of employment.  Wagners reserves the right to deny access to segments of the Wagners Tour for some parties.

The development is funded by a $40.7 million Federal Government Education Investment Fund program grant administered by the Department of Education. For the first time in Australia, multiple PV mounting technologies including fixed-tilt, single-axis and dual-axis tracker technologies are in operation side-by-side in the same field. A 600 kW, 760 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has also been integrated with The University of Queensland (UQ) Gatton solar PV plant.
